Up is down and You Die to Live
5 April
In God's economy which is in direct contrast with the world, up is down and the way you live is to die. The way to get is to give because the laws of the Kingdom are reversed from the laws of this world.
For us , it is often difficult to give up and get out of control. It is rather difficult to 'let go' and be stripped of any position whether in church of in our daily vocations. Jesus said ' not my will, but Yours be done' Luke 22:42b.
I have experienced in my life recently, when I gave up so that I can have more of Christ! When I was in church leadership all these years and to give up at the prompting of His Spirit is the most painful decision I have made. It was through this experience, I learnt to humble myself and looked at things from the perspective of the sheep. When position is stripped away, what do we have? It is your character and walk with God that counts. Finally, I learnt what Solomon said in Ecc 12:13 ' the conclusion, when all has been heard, is fear God and keep His commandments, because it applies to every person...'
In Exo 4:6-7 , Moses was giving a lot of excuses to avoid God's call when the Lord told him ' ok now put your hand in your bosom...now pull it out' Moses was shocked to see that his hand was covered with leprosy! When God told him to put his hand back to his bosom and withdrew his hand, it was perfectly clean again.
God was teaching Moses two lessons. Firstly, any person who cannot control the flesh, cannot cast out the devil. You must know your heart and keep your flesh clean through repentance and obedience. Secondly, 'put your hand on your heart' It will reveal what is written in your hands. The second lesson tells us that God cannot work His miracles through anyone who wants to be control. God let Moses know who was in charge and where the power came from.
Today, after 2 years of searching for answers to problems in church life, God has also taught me to nurture the father's heart in me. What we need today is beyond pastoral care, it is the father's care...because this is my Father's World.
