Scripture Reading
2 Chronicles 20:1-20, Jehoshaphat brings the threat of an enemy before the Lord. The Lord assures Jehoshaphat that He will fight the battle for them.
The King has already fought and won your battles.
Do you get tired of daily battling fresh problems and new enemies? Spiritual warfare is an unavoidable part of the Christian life. Fortunately for us, our King is also a mighty warrior! We don't have to face our battles alone. In fact, He has already won them for us – we just have to claim them.
The King may be a warrior, but there is peace in His inner chambers.
Every soldier needs periodic times of “R and R”; a safe harbor where he or she can find peace and rest for a while. For believers, this means drawing near to the heart of God; retreating into His inner chambers. It is here, in the place of worship and intimacy, where our battles are won. When we worship our way into the King's presence He takes up our battles and wins them for us.
The King of Judah had a problem. A formidable army was on its way to attack the kingdom of Judah . Jehoshaphat went before the people, humbled himself and worshiped the Lord. He laid out the situation then appealed for God's help. He worshiped himself into the inner chambers of intimacy with the Lord. In response, God told the king to take his army and go out to meet the enemy. He added, “ You will not need to fight in this battle . Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you…” The king sent singers ahead of his army. As soon as they began singing praises to the Lord, God set the enemy armies against each other and they destroyed themselves. This battle was won in the place of worship.
The same God who fought for Jehoshaphat will also fight for you. Don't fear the conflict because you are not alone. Worship your way into His inner chambers and wait on Him. The battle is the Lord's!
