When the world around us is falling apart
21 Feb 2011
' In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of His robe filled the temple' Isaiah 6:1
The world must have seemed to have falling apart when King Uzziah after 52 years of glorious reign where Judah's national pride had flourished and its borders grown.
All sorts of questions were now running through people's mind : what would happen now? Who would take over? How would things go? What about God's promises in the past? What about the enemy, Assyria to the east with its territorial ambitions?
The earthly king must have died; but the King of Glory is still on the throne! This was the revelation given to Isaiah...a King that is high and lifted up...Holy and Majestic!..worshipped by host of heaven..a King that will not die...He is eternal.
Seeing this through his spiritual eyes, Isaiah can once again take hold of God's promises to the people once again.
His initial reaction was to run! He felt so unworthy..so unclean. But God had a plan. He,himself, would deal with Isaiah's overwhelming sense of sin; just one touch from a coal from the heavenly altar..was sufficient to deal with his unworthiness and sin.
Now that Isaiah knew who he was and who God was and how very much loved and forgiven, now he was ready to look at the world and its problems with fresh eyes.
Let us have an encounter with God...with eyes of faith to deal with our sins and we too can stand firm when all things around us seem to be falling apart and take hold of His promises anew!
